Chibitronics and MFT collaboration week

Hi, crafty friends!

It’s collaboration week with Chibitronics and MFT Stamps!
We are planning to giveaway so please look forward to it.

I'm also part of a blog hop with giveaways!
We have a $50 voucher from MFT Stamps to give to one random commenter selected from comments left on both days of the hop and we will also be giving away a starter kit each day. That's three chances to win so make sure you comment on every hop stop for the most chances to win!
The related blog posts are at the bottom of this post.

Today I make light up monster birthday card.

When you pull the upper pull tab, the candle flashes, and when you pull the lower pull tab, the sentiment glows.

I'm using these stamps and dies.
"Monster Sized"
"Die-namics Monster Sized"

"Die-namics Happy Birthday Centerpieces"

What you need to make a light up card is like this.
"Red, Yellow, Blue Megapack"
"Circuit Stickers Effects Add-On"
"Copper Tape"
"3V coin cell battery" (CR2032)

Copic sketch markers(YR02, YR04, V12, V15, V17, Y02, C1, C5, E31, B18, R37)

The used cardstocks are here.
"Kraft Collection Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots Paper Pack"

I will make the parts referring to the picture below.

  • Folded kraft cardstock(4.25 x 11 inch)
  • 4 x 5.25 inch white cardstock
  • 4.25 x 5.5 inch dotted cardstock
  • 4.25 x 5.5 inch white cardstock for circuit
  • 8 x 10.5 inch vellum paper

I will make the parts referring to the picture below.

  • Stamp two monsters onto white cardstock.
  • Two pull tab parts(0.5 x 3.25 inch)
  • Two pull tab parts(0.5 x 3 inch)
  • Four switch parts(0.5 x 0.75 inch)
  • Four switch parts(0.5 x 0.5 inch)
  • Die cut red, blue, yellow and green cardstock using happy birthday centerpieces die.

Color the monster with Copic markers and die cut using the coordinating die.

  • Left monster(YR02, YR04, E31, C5, Y02)
  • Right monster(V12, V15, V17, E31, C1, C5, Y02)

Adhere the white cardstock onto the dotted cardstock and die cut the cardstock using the happy birthday centerpieces die.

Put the cover panel on circuit card base and mark the sentiment, candles and crossbar with a pencil.

Draw the circuit with a pencil.

Lower circuit
  • Draw a line at the middle crossbar.
  • Draw a line of 1.5 inch length from the 1 inch from the right end.
  • Cut the slit with 1.5 inch length and 1 mm width with a craft knife.
  • Draw two lines at 1/4 intervals above and below the previous line.
  • Make sure the positive side circuit crosses the slit.
Upper circuit
  • Draw a line at the top crossbar.
  • Draw a line of 1 inch length from the left end of the crossbar.
  • Cut the slit with 1 inch length and 1 mm width with a craft knife.
  • Draw two lines at 1/4 intervals above and below the previous line.
  • Connect "+" of Chibitronics to the signal pad of the effects sticker.
  • Connect "-" of Chibitronics to "-" pad of the effects sticker and "-" of the battery.
  • Connect "+" pad of the effects sticker to "+" of the battery.
  • Make sure the negative side circuit crosses the slit.
Color around the slit with Copic markers.
Adhere the copper tape on the drawing path.

  • Pass the end of the copper tape through the slit and adhere about 1/2 inch tape on the back side.
  • At the position of the battery, peel off the release paper, adhere the negative side copper tape, turn it back and cut it.
  • At the position of the battery leave about 1 inch of positive side copper tape and cut it.
Place the battery on the copper tape with the positive side up and adhere the positive side copper tape on the battery.

  • For better energization, adhere conductive fabric patch on the copper tape.
    (You can omit this step.)
  • Adhere the yellow, red and blue Chibitronics and effects sticker on the mark.
  • Adhere copper tape on the Chibitronics to reinforce.
    (You can omit this step.)

Make the switch parts.

  • Fold rectangular parts in half.
  • Insert the switch part into the slit.
  • Place the switch part on the left end of the slit and adhere the copper tape.
  • Pull the switch part out of the slit and adhere copper tape around it.
  • Make cross-shaped parts as shown in the lower left picture.
  • Insert the switch part into the slit and confirm that the LED turns on.
  • Make another switch part as well.

Apply the double-sided tape on the switch part and adhere the pull tab parts from the front and back.

  • Adhere two parts together with thin foam tape.

Fold the remaining switch parts in half and adhere the double-sided tape on the parts.

  • Adhere the parts on the pull tab part.
  • Adhere 3mm thick foam tape around the card base.

Adhere vellum paper on the back of the cover panel.

  • Glue the cutout parts to the cover panel.
  • Cut out two crossbars with a craft knife.

Adhere the cover panel on the circuit card base.

Apply the double-sided tape on the switch parts and adhere the monsters on the parts.

Adhere the double-sided tape on the back of the card base and adhere the finished parts on two folded cardstock.

I finished it!
When you pull the upper pull tab, the candle flashes, and when you pull the lower pull tab, the sentiment glows.

  21. this would also make a good "get well"
card. A few small changes and it would
bring laughter into the room and dispel
    the gloom of illness.
thanks for sharing a darling card.
