How to make light up Tim Holtz Village Winter ~advanced level~

Hi, crafty friends!

Today I make light up 3D house using Tim Holtz's Village Dwelling series die.

I will make an advanced level house this time.

At the advanced level house, the window flashes and the music rings when you turn on the switch.

I'm using Tim Holtz's village dwelling, village winter and village rooftops dies.

I'm using 80 lb Neenah kraft cardstock and 110 lb Neenah white cardstock.
And using these papers and plastic sheet.
"Tim Holtz kraft-core nostalgic collection"
"Frosted plastic sheet"
"Clear plastic sheet"

What you need to make a light up card is like this.
"Chibitronics Pink, Orange, Green MegaPack"
"Chibitronics Red, Yellow, Blue MegaPack"
"Circuit Stickers Effects Add-On"
"3V coin cell battery" (CR2032)
"5mm wide Copper tape"
"Coin Cell Battery Holder"
"Lilypad Slide Switch"
"Conductive thread"
"Melody IC"

The house of the advanced level has a two layer structure of the outer house and the inner circuit.

First of all I will make the outer house.

  • Die cut the 110lb white cardstock with wall structure dies.
  • Die cut the 80lb kraft cardstock with wall structure dies.
  • Die cut a 110lb white cardstock with roof, base and chimney.
  • Die cut a corrugate cardboard with chimney, additional door and posts for the front porch dies.

  • Die cut a white Kraftcore cardstock with snow drips dies.
  • Die cut a red Kraftcore cardstock with window frame die.
  • Die cut a frosted plastic with icicle dies.
Die cut a green Kraftcore cardstock with slate rooftop dies.

Cut off the tab of the wall structure part of 80 lb.

Put the wall parts on the clear plastic sheet and trace the outline.
Cut the outline with a scissors.

Mark the center of the window.

I will make the wall of the house.
I'm using a ranger texture paste and stencil.

Apply the walnut stain distress ink to my craft sheet and mix the texture paste with a palette knife.
Adhere the wall parts on craft sheet with temporary adhesive tape.
Place a stencil on the part and scrape the texture paste through a stencil.

Make four wall parts the same way and air dry.

After dry, apply the walnut stain distress ink onto the parts using the ink blending tool.

Color the corrugate parts in the same way.

And color the rooftop parts in the same way.

Adhere the snow drip parts on a copy paper with temporary adhesive tape.
Heat embossing the parts with the snowflake tinsel embossing powder.

Adhere the frosted plastic sheet on the back of the windows.

Fold all tabs of the wall structure.
Adhere the tabs with paper adhesive.

Heat embossing the parts with the snowflake tinsel embossing powder.

Adhere the roof parts on the roof base.

Adhere the snow drip part on the roof part.

Adhere the wall structure on the base structure and adhere the window frames and door part on the wall.

I make the chimney parts.

And make the front porch part.

Adhere the front porch and the rooftop part on the base structure.

Drill a hole in a door part, attach a mini fastener and make a door knob.

Adhere the icicle parts on the edge of the roof.

The outer house was completed.

Next I will make the inner circuit.
Cut the plastic parts at 5 mm from the edge.

Adhere the plastic parts with Scotch tape.

Mark the position of the Chibitronics.

Draw the circuit with a pen.
Connect the positive side of Chibitronics on the front panel and the negative side of Chibitronics on the side panel.
Connect the minus sides of Chibitronics of the front panel and back panel.
Connect the positive sides of Chibitronics of both side panels.

Back side.

Mark the effect sticker inside the wall structure.

Connect the plus side of Chibitronics on the front panel to the signal pad of the effect sticker.
Connect the negative side of Chibitronics on the front panel and the negative side of the effect sticker.
And connect to the negative side of the battery.
Connect the positive side of Chibitronics on the side panel and the positive side of the effect sticker.

Lay down the wall structure and align it with the base.
Extend the circuit to the battery holder.

Adhere the copper tape on the drawing path.

Adhere the red and green Chibitronics LED sticker and the effect sticker on the mark.

Adhere the copper tape on the drawing path in the base.

Reinforce the hinge part with Scotch tape.

Adhere the circuit structure to the base.

Place the battery holder and the switch.
Mark the battery holder and the switch.

Connect the positive side of the battery holder and the melody IC.

Sew the positive side of the battery holder on the positive side copper tape with conductive thread.

Connect the negative side of the battery holder and the switch with conductive thread.

Sew the negative side of the melody IC to the negative side copper tape with conductive thread.

Then connect to the switch.

Put the battery in the battery holder.

The circuit is completed.

I will put the house on the circuit.

I finished it!

When the switch is turned on, the light flashes and the music sounds.

Do you understand how to make it?
Be sure to check out the whole video tutorial for more details.

Since the outer house and the inner circuit are separated, it is possible to make a lot of outer houses and exchange easily.

Please try and make it for yourself.

Thank you for stopping by!
