How to make light up yellow submarine card.

Hi, crafty friends!

Today I make light up yellow submarine card using Chibitronics and Lawn Fawn stamps and dies.

When you lift the flap, the windows glow.

I'm using these stamps and dies.
"Lawn Fawn you are sublime lawn cuts"

"Lawn Fawn lift the flap circles lawn cuts"
"Lawn Fawn porthole frames lawn cuts"

What you need to make a light up card is like this.
"Chibitronics Pink, Orange, and Green LED Sticker Pack"
"3V coin cell battery (CR2016)"
"5mm wide Copper tape"

I'm using these papers.
"Lawn Fawn wishing well 12inch paper"
"2mm thick foam sheet"
"White cardstock"
"White vellum"
"Lawn Fawn moonstone cardstock"
"Silver foiled paper"

I will make the parts referring to the picture below.

  • Moonstone cardstock (4.25x11inch)
  • Die cut moonstone cardstock using the large flap die.
  • 4.25x5.5inch white cardstock for circuit
  • 4.25inch square pattern paper
  • Die cut moonstone cardstock using the large flap die and cut 1/4 inch from the score line.
  • Die cut pattern paper using the large flap die and wave borders die.
  • Die cut silver foil paper and foam sheet using large porthole frame die.
  • White vellum paper
  • Die cut black cardstock using label die. Stamp the sentiment and heat emboss with white embossing powder.
  • Two pull tab parts (0.5x2.5inch)
  • Three switch parts (0.5x0.5inch)

Stamp the submarine, diver, angler fish and lobster onto white cardstock. Color them with Copic markers (Y02, Y06, R35, R22, C2, C5, YR02, YR04, B00, E00, V12, V15) and cut out the windows of the submarine with a craft knife. Die cut them using the coordinating die.

Put the cover panel on white card base and mark the outline of the flap with a pencil. Draw a line 1/4 inch from the score line.

Adhere the cardstock pull tab part on the acetate pull tab part. Fold at 1/2 inch from the edge. Adhere the pull tab part 3/8 inch from the left end of the flap.

Mark the outline of the pull tab part.

  • Close the flap and mark the tip of the pull tab part with a pencil. (line A)
  • Open the flap and trace the outline of the pull tab part with a pencil. (line B)
  • Draw a line 1/2 inch from the tip of the pull tab when opening the flap. (line C)
  • Draw a center line on the outline of the pull tab.

Between line A and C, make a 1mm wide slit with a craft knife.

Put the cover panel on pattern paper and mark the pull tab with a pencil. Put the submarine part on pattern paper and mark the windows with a pencil.

Cut out the windows of the submarine and the slit for the pull tab part with a craft knife.

Put the pattern paper on white card base and mark the windows with a pencil.

Make the circuit.

  • Mark the position of the Chibitronics and the battery.
  • Draw the circuit with a pencil.
  • The negative side circuit crosses the upper end of the slit.
  • Put the double-sided tape on the position of the battery.

Adhere the copper tape on the drawing path.

  • At the position of the battery, peel off the release paper, adhere the negative side copper tape, turn it back and cut it.
  • At the position of the battery leave about 1 inch of positive side copper tape and cut it.

Place the battery on the copper tape with the positive side up and adhere the positive side copper tape on the battery.

  • Adhere the orange Chibitronics on the mark.
  • Adhere copper tape on the Chibitronics to reinforce.

Make the switch part.

  • Fold square parts in half and insert the switch part into the slit.
  • Place the switch part on the upper end of the slit and adhere the copper tape.
  • Insert the switch part into the slit and confirm that the LED turns on.

Put double-sided tape on 1/2 inch square parts and adhere on the switch part.

Make the cover panel.

  • Adhere the submarine and the diver parts on the pattern paper.
  • Adhere vellum paper on the back of the windows.

Adhere the wave, angler fish and lobster parts on the flap. Adhere the porthole frame and the sentiment label on the cover panel.

Pass the pull tab part through the slit and adhere the pattern paper on the back of the cover panel.

The back side is like this.

Adhere another flap part inside the flap.

Adhere the porthole foam frame on the card base. Put the foam tape around the card base and on both sides of the pull tab part. Put the double-sided tape on the switch part.

Place the switch part at the bottom end of the slit, peel off the release paper of double-sided tape on the switch part.

Place and adhere the cover panel on the card base.

Put the double-sided tape on the back of the cover panel.

Adhere the cover panel on the folded moonstone cardstock.

I finished it!
